Time Nick Message 00:53 MTDiscord Hey folks, I've been feeling better with the better news. No guarantees, but I don't think I'll be entirely gone for the next few years by any means 😄 I'm still learning how to balance all this. And thank you all so much for your kind words in this channel. I know it goes against norms and I don't know where many of you live, but I know we are a global community. It has been really wonderful to hear you all chime in. Anyway, 00:53 MTDiscord I'm curious if anyone has poked around at my initial prototype for the schema validator: https://github.com/luanti-org/docs.luanti.org/issues/310#issuecomment-3787817009. Please do let me know any and all feedback, either here or in the GH issue 🙂 00:55 MTDiscord (and I know we still very much need to actually decide the schema! At the highest level, we have two competing ideas. One is a tag-based system like XML and HTML, the other is a minimal-overhead system like Markdown, TOML, or YAML. I genuinely can't decide and have been thinking a lot, I might post some thoughts in https://github.com/luanti-org/docs.luanti.org/issues/297 soon. I have been reading and reflecting on everyone's 00:55 MTDiscord contributions there, I promise 🙂 01:01 MTDiscord https://github.com/luanti-org/docs.luanti.org/issues/297#issuecomment-3808368807 TLDR strongly considering tags now lol, you can see why I didn't make a final decision earlier 01:02 MTDiscord https://tenor.com/view/eminem-mask-robin-gif-2620599489105382922 02:03 MTDiscord Writers are unlikely to want to write with tags, and they are are first target 04:39 MTDiscord agreed, but if we can make it easy to copy-paste, do you think we can mitigate that concern? Do we know of other likely writers that aren't active here that we can contact? 18:54 MTDiscord The concern is special characters? Haven't seen a section where that's an issue? 18:55 MTDiscord If it's a snippet, it goes in mono or similar 18:56 MTDiscord And markdown renders directly to xhtml, a stricter, easier to parse html (cause it's just XML) 18:57 MTDiscord So both end in tagged parsable data, the key is always schema and enforcement. One issue I forsee: using tags and raw XML, allows a writer to pull up vs odium and load a schema plugin, our markdown system wouldn't have that out of the box
