Time Nick Message 00:20 bgstack15 Does the nodemetaref mark_as_private() function work? I can't get it to suppress sending the field to the clients. 03:28 MTDiscord Or "Here god! Help these 877 warnings!" 04:56 MTDiscord https://klipy.com/gifs/gears-steampunk 04:56 MTDiscord The last thing my transmission sees as I shift into reverse at 90mph 05:02 MTDiscord Manual or automatic transmission? 05:08 MTDiscord I've heard that over in Europe you all mostly use manual transmissions, which is a bit odd I think because here in the US almost every vehicle has an automatic transmission. (With the exception of the big trucks, the automatic transmission is too weak for the loads they haul.) There are few people anymore in the US that know how to drive a manual. I happen to be one. :) 05:41 MTDiscord A 4r75e automatic but I prefer manual because automatics behave weird 09:22 * cheapie shows jordan4ibanez the transmission in her car... one of the Toyota hybrid ones (2013 Prius) so it's about as conventionally uninteresting as they get while also being nearly indestructible 10:44 Izzy big fan of sequential manuals personally 11:12 celeron55 it's actually false that automatic transmissions are weak. today's strongest transmissions are very specifically automatic. it's just that the automatics they put into everyday economical vehicles are made cheap to get the cost down 11:13 celeron55 and these days in europe, if you look at new vehicles, almost all of them are automatics 11:14 celeron55 but the older vehicle pool has lots of manuals, especially if you're into 90s and 00s cars (or don't have the money to buy anything newer) 12:11 Izzy I've also heard that modern trucks are using auto transmissions because having two dozen gears kinda sucks to drive? and I say that as someone that has search alerts for the 8 speed race transmission for my vehicle. Buses too. 16:52 MinetestBot 02[git] 04cx384 -> 03luanti-org/luanti: Fix some compiler warnings 13bce05ec https://github.com/luanti-org/luanti/commit/bce05ecb911c14e5a402980d95526a8d32ff6563 (152026-07-14T16:25:41Z) 20:35 MTDiscord cheapie: Yes 4r75e is extremely strong as well but it needs a shift kit and then it becomes less weird as it turns into a sequential that shifts instantly to the point the rear tires chirp 20:36 MTDiscord But I am going to have to designate a weekend where I would like to taste mercon lv while taking the valve body out 20:39 MTDiscord People have been trying to swap the 10r80 into these cars recently which is also the gm 10l80 but apparently the ford one has better parts and tuning for performance 20:40 MTDiscord But the aode with the od/off button just has a vibe to it under certain situations where it slams into first gear and you take off up to 60 mph on a straight cut gear. The 4/2 down shift is horrific for it though so I would like to have it reprogrammed to 4-3-2 instead 20:45 MTDiscord The kit has an optional sequential upgrade but I am on the fence because currently I have a column shifter and I kinda want to keep that. The floor shifter will require me taking out the solid metal center console which I really like cause it's very handy. So I probably won't end up installing the sequential mod that comes in the kit and just keep the higher pressure logic and add in an additional torque converter upgrade which makes 20:45 MTDiscord the bypass inlets on the solenoid much smaller to RAMP the pressure up and jam the torque converter lockup clutch into place which should triple it's lifespan 20:46 MTDiscord https://klipy.com/gifs/the-simpsons-homer-simpson-266 20:47 MinetestBot 02[git] 04lhofhansl -> 03luanti-org/luanti: Take end_offset into account for dense occlusion check (#17344) 139438b4e https://github.com/luanti-org/luanti/commit/9438b4ef4bb6c5ee791ffd5269d7fbc8077071a8 (152026-07-14T20:47:34Z) 22:04 cheapie jordan4ibanez: Meanwhile the only thing that physically shifts in mine is the park pawl when it's shifted into/out of park :P 22:05 cheapie No clutches inside the transmission, no brake bands, no sliding gears, no solenoids, no valves, no hydraulics, arguably no fun either but that's not what I look for in cars 23:46 MTDiscord cheapie: you may want to research your transmission. It may need an oil change https://youtu.be/5lg6yC5_-Bs 23:46 cheapie Yeah, changing the fluid probably wouldn't hurt, but they tend to last pretty much forever most of the time even if you don't 23:47 MTDiscord I've rebuilt the engines on those year priuses but never touched that transaxle, that looks like good money to work on it though 23:49 MTDiscord Looks like she got open cage ball bearings instead of rollers, interesting 23:49 MTDiscord Probably gets slightly better mileage with that 23:54 cheapie The only engine problem (really the only powertrain problem) I've had in about 215k miles was a failed engine water pump. Thankfully caught it before the engine self-destructed. 23:55 cheapie Apparently this year blows head gaskets sometimes but mine hasn't yet 23:56 cheapie With the salt around here in the winter, Priuses usually go until either they rust out or the HV battery fails, both around 15 years 23:58 MTDiscord I'm not sure why they used an open deck engine block on an engine that has start stop heat cycling  Perhaps a head gasket upgrade could bring that to 30 years 23:59 cheapie 2015/16ish and later have upgraded head gaskets and redesigned EGR systems that solved that issue
