o/ hi all |
| 08:50 |
lisac |
Hey tenplus1 |
| 08:51 |
tenplus1 |
hi lisac, sorry was fixing stairsplus stairs for bakedclay (again) |
| 08:51 |
* tenplus1 |
dislikes stairsplus |
| 08:54 |
lisac |
stairsplus is nice. |
| 08:54 |
tenplus1 |
*shudder* |
| 08:54 |
lisac |
better then manually writing all those shapes. |
| 08:54 |
tenplus1 |
true |
| 08:55 |
tenplus1 |
if only minetest worked in basic shapes initially which you could apply a texture to instead of having to register 40 different stairs per block |
| 08:55 |
lisac |
hmm |
| 08:55 |
lisac |
that'll be pretty easy to do with new meta set nodedef. |
| 08:56 |
lisac |
just add a chisel tool |
| 08:56 |
lisac |
on rightclick it changes the model and collision box |
| 08:56 |
tenplus1 |
sounds good :) |
| 08:57 |
tenplus1 |
then stairs and all other shapes will be easy to use instead of pre-registering 100's of them in advance :D |
| 08:58 |
lisac |
though registering them like that only adds startup time and small memory usage. |
| 08:58 |
lisac |
doing this would probably be worse performance wise. :( |
| 08:58 |
tenplus1 |
ya think ? |
| 08:59 |
lisac |
hmm yes, if I got it correctly. |
| 08:59 |
lisac |
you'd have to do calculations while the mod is running instead of just placing it like usual node. |
| 08:59 |
tenplus1 |
hrmmmmm |
| 09:00 |
tenplus1 |
considering how many checks it does placing a rotatable node already :) |
| 09:03 |
lisac |
probably just altering param2. |
| 09:07 |
lisac |
tenplus1, A player just reminded me I banned him at craigs. |

| 09:15 |
lisac |
We need a way for server admins to exchange player info |
| 09:15 |
tenplus1 |
he takes into account player actions on other servers |
| 09:16 |
lisac |
might make banning rule breakers a lot less painful |
| 09:16 |
tenplus1 |
although we generally give 3 chances (nicks per ip) |
| 09:17 |
lisac |
maybe we should form a 'Coalition of Minetest server owners and admins' |
| 09:17 |
lisac |
:D |
| 09:18 |
tenplus1 |
dont we already share user names and ip's to stop them on other servers ? |
| 09:19 |
tenplus1 |
the worst one's at least ? |
| 09:20 |
lisac |
yes; but maybe have a database where we could search players? |
| 09:20 |
lisac |
with ban reasons? |
| 09:20 |
tenplus1 |
good idea |
| 09:21 |
lisac |
also allow filtering by rules |
| 09:21 |
lisac |
and maybe tell people to use it for backchecking not just banning. |

Hello guys...can someone help me? I coded a temp ban mod that saves the timestamp of the expiring time and the amount of minutes to ban in a file...on prejoinplayer() I check the file and get the values: local ots = futuretimestamp; local banmins = 360; local sdiff = ots-os.time() local mdiff = math.floor(sdiff/60) local ml = banmins-mdiff ... but instead of saying "359 minutes left" it says "1 minute left" huh? |
| 11:38 |
CWz |
isn't there mod that already does that? |
| 11:39 |
IhrFussel |
It doesn't do what I want...I want the ban to extend + 3 hours each time the player misbehaves |
| 11:40 |
IhrFussel |
But that's not the problem... I don't get why it shows me 359 left when I try to connect after 1 minute |
| 11:40 |
IhrFussel |
I mean why it doesn't show me 359 minutes left* |
| 11:42 |
IhrFussel |
It does read the values correctly "2017-08-24 13:21:58: ACTION[Server]: Account "IhrFussel" tried to connect but is banned (2 / 360 minutes left)." |

tenplus1, make your mob mod not depend on fire nor tnt then I might use it |

Megaf: that's...that's a lot of channels |
| 15:06 |
benrob0329 |
How exactly do you keep track of them all? |
| 15:07 |
tenplus1 |
Megaf: the mobs:explode function uses tnt's boom function to work, which in turn uses fire |
| 15:07 |
tenplus1 |
you can easily disable TNT to stop players using it, but mobs api will only use the function itself which checks for protected areas |
| 15:07 |
nerzhul |
tenplus1, it's just an API now, there is no more mobs inside it? |

the only way for me to remove tnt/fire is to duplicate all of there code within mobs api, and that isnt gonna happen |

https://github.com/minetest/minetest/blob/master/doc/lua_api.txt#L1319 This is deprecated (because of meta) right? Dose anyone know the current syntax? |

If there was a way to disable fire in TNT that might help |
| 15:16 |
tenplus1 |
tnt needs fire to work properly... |

| 15:18 |
tenplus1 |
yes, enable_fire = false |

Grandolf |

| 15:19 |
tenplus1 |
same with tnt: enable_tnr = false |
| 15:19 |
tenplus1 |
same with tnt: enable_tnt = false |
| 15:19 |
tenplus1 |
that way no fire spreading and no tnt for players... but... the nodes and functions are still available for mobs that use them |
| 15:19 |

that was the whole point in adding settings |

rdococ, I think I found the issue...the modder for some reason set the default def.strength value to 0.9 and then set the armor level as "oldvalue*def.strength" ... so if I change that to 1.1 for example it should work correctly |
| 16:07 |
rdococ |
ah |
| 16:08 |
rdococ |
IhrFussel: But wouldn't the "bonus for having all of the same armor" cause problems too? |
| 16:08 |
IhrFussel |
Which means ALL armor becomes actually LESS strong after enchanting |
| 16:08 |
rdococ |
From what I can tell, it creates new armor items... |
| 16:09 |
tenplus1 |
which is why armor needs to use item metadata instead of set values on definition |
| 16:09 |
rdococ |
I don't think armor is in vanilla minetest_game, so that shouldn't be too difficult. |
| 16:09 |
IhrFussel |
rdococ, enchanting is still better than set bonus I'm pretty sure |

hi nore |
| 16:09 |
rdococ |
Even if it was, it'd be easy - the only problem would be if it was in the core. |
| 16:09 |
nore |
hi all btw :) |
| 16:11 |
rdococ |
ooh, cs translations |
| 16:12 |
tenplus1 |
currently each armor piece has it's stats defined inside a craftitems groups, but if we used specific craftitem metadata then the armor api could read those instead and will allow us to update/enchant separate pieces with better speed.gravity.jump.etc values |

I had the idea of a washing machine. It would be powered by water - and maybe some chemical - and it would repair stuff. |
| 16:14 |
tenplus1 |
anvils and tool ore's are better suited |
| 16:15 |
rdococ |
eh, true |
| 16:15 |
tenplus1 |
e.g. repair steel sword levels using stel ingots |
| 16:15 |
rdococ |
I don't get why we don't have to melt the ingots first. How does one shape two bars of solid, hard steel into a sword? :P |

tenplus1 |
magic :P |
| 16:16 |
tenplus1 |
although that's a good idea for a mod, a casting bench to craft tools with |
| 16:16 |
rdococ |
Yeah, but compatibility would be difficult as heck. |
| 16:16 |
rdococ |
It might be better as a realistic subgame. |
| 16:16 |
tenplus1 |
you would need to remove all "repair" recipe's and tool crafts in the game ieself |
| 16:17 |
rdococ |
I mean, at the very least require fuel to craft the tools :P |
| 16:18 |
tenplus1 |
minetest.chear_craft(recipe) is available to remove recipe's |

You cooooould use a for loop to find every item that looks like a tool, and replace its crafting recipe with an identical one for the casting. |
| 16:21 |

or melt ingots inside a furnace and craft using so many :) |

rdococ i have imagined time travel in MT |
| 23:36 |
Grandolf |
how it works: |
| 23:36 |
Grandolf |
medeival world at normal level, advanced world at 20000 |
| 23:36 |
Grandolf |
or |
| 23:36 |
Grandolf |
enderchests that work for multiple servers 0_0 |
| 23:37 |
Grandolf |
as a server-server transfer |
| 23:37 |
rdococ |
that could work, but what about incompatible mods |
| 23:37 |
rdococ |
one server might have xxx, the other might not |
| 23:37 |
Grandolf |
if you can share enderchest, that means player files r shared |
| 23:38 |
Grandolf |
how much harderm could it b to share mods, but not the mapgen? |
| 23:38 |
Grandolf |
um |
| 23:38 |
* Grandolf |
sees skyscrapers in a village... nvm this aint gunna work |
| 23:38 |
Grandolf |
hm |
| 23:39 |
rdococ |
player files are per server |
| 23:39 |
Grandolf |
make chests a HUGE pain to make (server-server ones) |
| 23:39 |
Grandolf |
ik |
| 23:39 |
rdococ |
I had the idea of an internal combustion engine |
| 23:39 |
Grandolf |
but it isnt possible to use the same player files between worlds? |
| 23:39 |
Grandolf |
would b cool |
| 23:39 |
rdococ |
that might be possible |
| 23:39 |
Grandolf |
or to change servers with the press of a button |
| 23:40 |
rdococ |
don't think it's possible to do that tho |
| 23:40 |
Grandolf |
or both |
| 23:40 |
Grandolf |
yea |
| 23:40 |
Grandolf |
not with current MT engin |
| 23:40 |
Grandolf |
but playerfiles might b possible |
| 23:40 |
Grandolf |
oh |
| 23:40 |
rdococ |
a server could send different data to different clients to function as multiple worlds, I guess |
| 23:40 |
Grandolf |
their inventorys would be kept |
| 23:41 |
Grandolf |
so only a spacific file with documents containing server-server stuff |
| 23:41 |
Grandolf |
(from in the chests) |
| 23:41 |
Grandolf |
would prob cause crazy lag tho |
| 23:41 |
Grandolf |
if it were live |
| 23:41 |
Grandolf |
particularly if it got big |
| 23:42 |
Grandolf |
imagin 20+files lice updateing 0_0 |
| 23:42 |
Grandolf |
*live |
| 23:42 |
Grandolf |
theory:possible |
| 23:42 |
Grandolf |
reality:time sink |
