Assigning formspec to node. Advantage is that it diminishes effect of lag - when player rightclicks something, it gets formspec instantly. However, disadvantage is that when a type of node is updated (e.g. circular saw), digging it and placing back is required to update the formspec. Sooo... any deeper considerations? |

^ I did that once. It looked quite weird with sky dark and everything else bright, also AFAIR there was a problem with the node shading in completely dark places (all faces had equal brightness so e.g. dirt/stone was like a noise) |

the protocol isn't pretty documented and comments are not enough. I know that packet header consists of (always the same) protocol ID, sender peer ID and channel - total 7 bytes. However, the next byte is packet type (control/original/split/reliable) - is it a requirement or it's completely legitimate to send/receive a packet without anything, without even type? |
