00:30 bamajoe411 i am playing 0.4.16 and in the tab_online.lua file it looks like the default text for the name filed is reading the minetest.conf file using core.settings:get("name") but the wiki shows to use minetest.setting_get("name"). is this something different or has the way to read the conf different now?
00:33 sofar you mean, for the server ?
00:33 sofar I thought 'name' was for the default admin
00:33 sofar server_name is for the server name on the multiplayer list
00:34 bamajoe411 "field[8,1.85;2.9,0.5;te_name;;" .. core.formspec_escape(core.settings:get("name")) .. "]"
00:34 bamajoe411 this
00:35 bamajoe411 name as in username
00:39 sofar oh
00:39 sofar those 2 functions are functionally equivalent in the main menu
00:39 bamajoe411 oh ok
00:39 sofar in mods you should use `minetest.*`
00:39 sofar but,  minetest.setting_get is deprecated
00:40 bamajoe411 so what should be used in place of minetest.setting_get?
00:41 sofar https://github.com/minetest/minetest/blob/master/doc/lua_api.txt#L2651
00:42 sofar haven't tried it, but it should be
00:42 sofar minetest.settings:get("name")
00:42 sofar in the same way the tab code uses it, essentially
00:42 bamajoe411 so is this wiki deprecated? http://dev.minetest.net/minetest.conf
00:43 sofar ask the folks in #minetest-doc that
00:43 sofar I don't know
00:43 sofar they're working on it, I though

00:58 bamajoe411 so core.settings:get("address") is not reading a file correct? it is pulling the address from when the user clicks a server on the list correct?
01:12 bamajoe411 sofar, you here? :3

20:48 deltasquared aww man, google cardboard (or clone) 3d_mode option would be awesome
20:48 deltasquared just playing around with this freebie google cardboard-compatible giveaway I got at a fair. seems relatively straightfoward, doesn't even seem to need that much distortion correction
20:49 deltasquared the sidebyside stereo option doesn't quite work the way needed alas
