I have been working on a feature branch that adds Extended Window Manger Hints (EWMH) _NET_WM_PID to minetest ... and I am wondering how best to go about creating a pull request for it. |

Greetings! How are chat commands executed from the terminal? |

which terminal? |
| 13:40 |
ANAND |
Ubuntu |
| 13:40 |
rubenwardy |
lol |
| 13:40 |
rubenwardy |
NCURSES is used as library to have nicer terminal I/O |
| 13:40 |
rubenwardy |
and it then interprets the input and runs it similar to IRC |
| 13:40 |
rubenwardy |
so you'll need to compile with NCURSES support |

IIRC, ncurses was detected on my system |

Librism, install and open cmake-gui (console window), then join the build directory and open the generated project file there |
| 19:02 |
Librism |
cmake-gui |
| 19:02 |
Librism |
i have the source of cmake |
| 19:02 |
Krock |
yes, from cmake |
| 19:02 |
Librism |
is it in there |
| 19:02 |
Krock |
no, you'll need the executable of cmake, not the source |

Krock |
+code. |

Librism |
uhmm |

any way you could send me the download link so i dont download some other random thing |

Yeah but theres like 87 downloads on that page |
| 19:04 |
Librism |
xD |
| 19:05 |
Librism |
cmake-3.11.3.zip? |
| 19:05 |
Krock |
if you've already got MSVC (msbuild.exe to be precise), then you'll only need cmake, irrlicht and zlib for the basic stuff |
| 19:06 |
Librism |
which one do i get on the cmake page? |
| 19:06 |
Krock |
Librism, Ctrl + F on that page, then enter "Binary distributions" and scroll a bit down |
| 19:06 |
Krock |
where it says "installer" |
| 19:06 |
Krock |
for you both versionx, x64 and x86 will work |
| 19:06 |
Librism |
The msi right |
| 19:07 |
Krock |
no, the .foo.baz archive |
| 19:07 |
Librism |

There isnt a .foo.baz |
| 19:08 |

| 19:08 |

Librism, yes. the .msi installer file. Nothing much you can do wrong there |

no wait |
| 19:12 |
Krock |
Librism, for the libraries openal, irrlicht, vorbis, ogg, etc .. you'll need the source code or a pre-built version for the system you're on |
| 19:13 |
Librism |
;p |
| 19:13 |
Librism |
so no more downloads other than cmake |
| 19:14 |
Librism |
ogg and all that is already there? |
| 19:14 |
Krock |
where? definitely not bundled with Minetest. |
| 19:14 |
Librism |
xD so i have to download all that? |
| 19:15 |
Krock |
please read my messages carefully. for the minimal build you'll only need a few of them and not the entire list |
| 19:15 |
Krock |
and for Win32 builds there are already pre-compiled libraries available |
| 19:16 |
Krock |
there you could download the entire archive, unzip and done. |
| 19:16 |
Krock |
up to you how you're going to build this stuff |

ok |

I'm sorry for annoying again with my ideas of an ability to purge mapgen generated db entries (as in vs. player-placed nodes) (for backup/disk space minimization purposes) but how difficult would it be to make mt create two sqlite db files for each mt 'world': one for storing mapgen-generated nodes and the other for storing player-placed/removed nodes (so one could easily delete mapgen sqlite file before |

isnt mapgen nodes are always deterministic (per seed number) (?) |
| 19:43 |
Krock |
in theory yes. but then there are changes in the mapgen (bugfixes), new biomes, new decorations or manual noise adjustments of a generated world |
| 19:44 |
Krock |
also leftovers and additional nodes from plantlife/-alike mods |

well, user can always choose *not* to delete mapgen dbfile before backup (and also mod-inspired nodes could also be placed into player-db sqlite file, (ok plants lbms? (or am I missing something huge?)) |

So, say 30-40 minetest worlds, and it's like 100+mb. |

depending on how you compiled you can either put mt_game in .minetest/games/ or put it in the minetest folder where you compiled under /games/ |

i think you are making this more complicated. either the directory isn't where you say it is or you are not typing exactly as I am |

you shouldn't be in the builtin directory if you did: cd ~/Downloads/minetest/bin |

possibly the compile process didn't succeed? |

yes whisker menu |
| 20:46 |

i'm not super versed in make but if you go to ~/minetest and do make uninstall you might be able to get it uninstalled properly |
| 21:19 |
Stix |
"make uninstall"? |
| 21:20 |
lumberJ |
you could try that. as i said i'm not versed in uninstalling that way so i'm not sure it will work |

you may just have to delete the 0.5.0 directory and maybe purge minetest with apt will work |
| 21:21 |
lumberJ |
then reinstall and hopefully you will get the version from the ppa |
| 21:24 |
lumberJ |
if the ppa did install correctly you should see minetest in /usr/share/minetest i believe |
| 21:24 |
lumberJ |
but you will still want to clean up the 0.5.0 stuff so it launches properly |
| 21:25 |
lumberJ |
the lesson here is don't run scripts if you don't understand exactly what they are doing :P |

*** No rule to make target 'uninstall'. Stop. |
| 21:27 |
lumberJ |
yeah, i was afraid of that |
| 21:28 |
Stix |
hmm i survived lava dunking just now lol |
| 21:28 |
lumberJ |
maybe sudo make uninstall |
| 21:28 |
Stix |
im multitasking mining and irc'ing xD |
| 21:28 |
lumberJ |
but it probably just doesn't have an uninstall script |
| 21:28 |
Stix |
that doesnt work either |
| 21:30 |
lumberJ |
well stack overflow has some other advice but i think its a bit beyond the scope of trying to explain here and not really in the realm of my knowledge |
| 21:30 |
lumberJ |
i would maybe suggest trying to sudo apt-get remove --purge minetest |
| 21:31 |
lumberJ |
if that seems to work, delete the minetest folder with 0.5.0 and then try to reinstall |
| 21:31 |
Stix |
oki |
| 21:31 |
lumberJ |
but since it wasn't installed with apt, i can't guarantee anything |
| 21:31 |
Stix |
have you noticed that the lighting in 0.5 is way smoother? |
| 21:32 |
lumberJ |
hmm, not really but i haven't played it much. |
| 21:32 |
Stix |
i wonder what they changed |
| 21:32 |
lumberJ |
i test stuff on it but it crashes too much to play for me |
| 21:34 |
Stix |
its never crashed on me sofar |

Krock, sfan5: I've seen some french translated pages not existing/up to date, how to request user wiki user account ? |
| 22:07 |
sfan5 |

| 22:08 |
mazes_80 |

Calinou: I sent updated wiki french translation via pastebin on this channel yesterday, for one modification, it's okay. But for more of them, seems a bit unconvenient. So as I have now more of them to update, I wa told to ask for a wiki user account. |
