03:30 acarrico2 Is there a repl for running lua commands in game?
03:31 repetitivestrain try worldedit's //lua or dbg's /lua
03:31 acarrico2 Ok, I'll check them out. Thanks.

04:24 acarrico2 That works.
04:25 acarrico2 We're trying to debug this one: https://github.com/joe7575/techage/issues/187
04:25 acarrico2 I'm logging off, but take a look if you are interested. Thanks.

05:01 cheapie Hmm... I'm not sure what ores I was expecting to find in a flooded cave 10km underground, but it wasn't "Rhotator Testing Cube"

06:55 cheapie Heh, in the digtron docs (which are otherwise mostly serious): 'Tunnel boring machines cannot fly or swim, not even through lava, and they don't dig fast enough to "catch sick air" when they emerge from a cliffside.'

09:12 Krock the "Lost Kingdoms" server appears to manipulate the server list. There's 3 players online whereas it reports 15.

09:40 SwissalpS they seem to be able to float quite fine when digging downward. Also light beams give digtrons enough traction to dig in any direction ;)
09:59 repetitivestrain has anyone noticed a marked performance regression and z-fighting in the horizontal faces of hardware colored nodes after upgrading from

10:31 sfan5 you can change mesh_buffer_min_vertices to test without recompiling
10:31 repetitivestrain sfan5: No GitHub account
10:32 repetitivestrain what would be an appropriate value for mesh_buffer_min_vertices?
10:32 sfan5 the default is 100, set it to 0 to disable the optimization

10:34 repetitivestrain Thanks
10:35 Blockhead256 wowee, a 12 year necro on the forums today
10:36 Blockhead256 pro tip: if you don't already have a forum account, probably don't make your username FirstnameLastname. Most of the AI bots do that. Oops, did I just help them?
10:36 repetitivestrain the z-fighting vanishes
10:37 repetitivestrain i've yet to play enough to speak as to the performance
10:37 erle public service announcement: PLEASE check what happens if you have nodes that emit particle and some user places a ton of them. on oysterity anarchy there is a menge sponge out of crying obsidian and if you stand near it, traffic is dominated by particle spawning.
10:37 Blockhead256 ah good, it's like the lag problems with fireworks mods
10:38 erle apparently it was not done maliciously, but no one before me had profiled the amount of traffic crying obby makes
10:38 SFENCE joined #minetest
10:41 erle cora was able to reduce the amount of traffic in one testing spot i tested (that was not even very close to the fractal) by about two thirds just by not spawning particles unless the crying obby has air under it (it “cries”, i.e. drops “tears”)
10:42 erle i only learned that it was not done maliciously because some user asked me for more obsidian lol
10:42 erle and admitted to having built that

11:02 sfan5 repetitivestrain: how can I reproduce the problem? mods/server/...?
11:02 erle if anyone is interested, the trailer for the reform next (open hardware laptop) shows a tiny bit of minetest_game gameplay (or at least i think it is that)
11:02 MTDiscord <et086> (replying to theidealist, who is replying to erle's PSA) OH THAT WAS CAUSING THE NETWORK LAG??
11:03 MTDiscord <et086> (as in like, there was high latency)
11:04 Blockhead256 hahaha MTG is described as retro, probably accurately
11:10 repetitivestrain sfan5: Mineclonia.  can you recommend a web service for hosting screenshots that isn't imgur?
11:10 sfan5 0x0.st
11:11 sfan5 just "mineclonia" isn't very specific
11:11 repetitivestrain Yeah, hence I asked for the service
11:11 erle repetitivestrain https://mister-muffin.de/paste (single file service even, you can host it yourself)
11:12 erle https://mister-muffin.de/post.htm web interface
11:12 erle i have aliased it in my shell (rc) as …
11:12 erle fn pastebin {curl -F 'arg=<-' https://mister-muffin.de/paste}
11:14 erle another PSA: for particles it's also important to check that you don't send them to people who should not get them

12:34 repetitivestrain sfan5: i can't retrieve screenshots at the moment but if it helps, the regression occurs when i look in a direction facing many active objects
