damn we really support ancient android versions |

<ggepic64> Android 7 never gets old |

red-001: ancient android versions might be the only ones that can install Luanti in a few months... |
| 15:04 |
red-001 |
Sheriff_U3: let's not overstate it, Google has not indicated they will block APK installing as long as you do the right steps to disable their new security policy |

the google is evil thing is really taking it a bit far when openAI is right there |

<luatic> we just lose out on users who won't bother jumping through google's hoops and will just go straight to multicraft instead (which it seems enough mobile users already do as even with luanti available on the play store) |

<luatic> i don't think google is "evil" per se but they're a big corpo with an interest in extending their chokehold on app distribution via play. i doubt that the new restrictions of alternative distribution mechanisms are all in the best interest of the users. |

<cx384> Is anyone familiar with our mapblock mesh lighting code? |

<cx384> Do does LightInfo::light_boosted actually do anything? |

the Android 5.0 minimum is specified in build.gradle |

<ggepic64> Wait Luanti not only still work in Android 7+, but also 5+ ?? |
| 18:30 |
[MatrxMT]_ |
<cx384> At least for solid nodes it's not necessary right? And if the y normal is between 0 and 1, the trilinear interpolation should not change much since the top node has full sunlight anyway. |

<cx384> Oh, and why do allfaces drawtype nodes call getSmoothLightFrame() two times? It's a very slow function. |
| 19:19 |
sfan5 |
AFAICT light_boosted does get used for smooth lighting depending on some normals |

<cx384> I just found #7061, apparently it's for nodebox nodes, but it still does not make much sense to me. |

@ggepic64 Can confirm that it does work (although with some restrictions regarding shaders) on Android 6. Assuming that your battery still lasts or was replaced, of course. |
