14:53 sfan5 for everyone interested here are new client statistics from the serverlist POV >> https://kitsunemimi.pw/tmp/serverlist_stats_2026-08-26.txt
14:54 sfan5 the date is from last month to avoid the android DMCA having impact on the numbers
14:55 sfan5 there are some surprises (where did all those 5.16 android clients come from?!) so I hope I didn't make a mistake
15:03 sfan5 producing some time series should be easy
15:15 MTDiscord <wsor4035> re multicraft, pretty sure they switched back to luantis serverlist?
15:17 MTDiscord <wsor4035> at least the servers.multicraft.world went from everything to just multicraft servers to now nothing
15:18 sfan5 I can't confirm that
15:19 sfan5 or to be clearer: the data does not show this at all. doesn't look like that's the case.
15:19 MTDiscord <wsor4035> https://github.com/MultiCraft/MultiCraft/commit/80a7f96ff07c4b4c8b76b93b3ffd225f22bfc1e3, also the base65 encoded list url was removed as well
15:20 MTDiscord <wsor4035> might be switched to something else in the proprietary bits rather than back
15:42 sfan5 https://up.em32.site/HT7d I'm not sure what this tells us
15:42 sfan5 https://up.em32.site/EGJz this one looks cool at least
15:43 MTDiscord <ggepic64> why only 5.16 users updated to 5.17? :thonking:
15:45 sfan5 by extrapolating the graphs we can conclude that the number of luanti players will reach zero by christmas :^)
15:45 MTDiscord <ggepic64> 5.18 will do better, hopefully :')
15:48 Sheriff_U3 ggepic64: those who were on 5.16 are the ones who wanted the current Luanti version, hence they upgraded. Some of those others may be waiting on their package managers to upgrade.
15:50 MTDiscord <ggepic64> no pkg manager update on time enough btw, they're ALL LATE. that's why i keep compiling luanti with latest changes :p
15:52 Sheriff_U3 I use flatpak for my global installation and AppImages for testing versions. I'm trying to get an AppImage of every 5.x version and some 4.x too.
15:52 Sheriff_U3 That way I can test compatibility with previous versions.
15:58 MTDiscord <wsor4035> i know people running luanti via wine for that purpose had some userbase at some point suprisingly. dunno if thats a good idea or not
15:59 MTDiscord <ggepic64> i think that's stoopid, they can just download the appimage now that it is being provided
16:02 sfan5 https://up.em32.site/J56n nice and naughty list of updating I guess
16:02 MTDiscord <wsor4035> appimage still can dep on system stuff, whereas flatpack/exe have everything bundled into one
16:04 Sheriff_U3 Looks like we can deduct that most pre-release testing and builds are on and for linux.
16:05 sfan5 worth noting that "Darwin" includes iOS for which no official client even exists
16:06 sfan5 (in fact we don't know what exactly the iOS client showing up in the logs is)

18:24 Krock great.   The builds fail due to google chrome having a mismatching checksum
18:25 Krock as for why this repository is consulted at all - probably just GitHub (TM) things.
18:25 Krock (* most Linux builds, though GitHub Actions)
18:26 sfan5 github actions ships the entire kitchen sink
18:26 Sheriff_U3 Better start washing the dishes then.
18:27 Krock heaviest objects in the universe  (....) GitHub Actions dependencies
