allright, now i know what to put in my game's min_minetest_version field |
| 00:02 |
user333_ |
hmm, a tool that scans through a game/mod and finds the min_minetest_version of it would be useful... +1 thing to make |
| 00:03 |
user333_ |
the concept at least is simple |
| 00:03 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> or just officially support the last two version like most do 🤷 |
| 00:04 |
user333_ |
yea but what about those ppl stuck on their distro's out of date packages |
| 00:04 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> flatpack, appimages, etc exist 🤷 |
| 00:05 |
user333_ |
not to the non-technical user |
| 00:05 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> the first is rather common |
| 00:05 |
user333_ |
though most linux users know how to use flatpak or appimages... |

<Blockhead256> there's people out there, probably put on linux by their younger family members, who would just have all their stuff from their distro's GUI package store program and be using flatpak (or snap :| )without realising |
| 00:34 |
user333_ |
don't say the s word Blockhead |
| 00:35 |

aka *gulp* snap |

[17:29:45] <VE-Creative> <2424barrier> they should really make a digiline toilet mod |
| 01:43 |
cheapie |
so anyway this exists now https://cheapiesystems.com/git/digitoilet/ |
| 01:45 |
[MatrxMT] |
<Blockhead256> it only takes input? I need it to send output when it's manually flushed, it's very important for my prison |
| 01:45 |
cheapie |
It currently does not support being manually flushed |
| 01:45 |
[MatrxMT] |
<Blockhead256> ahh, I need my digiphone app |
| 01:46 |
[MatrxMT] |
<Blockhead256> I guess I can do it with a mesecons lever into a luacontroller |
| 01:47 |
[MatrxMT] |
<Blockhead256> but this is the era of machine learning and big data, I need info out about the contents of the flush |
| 01:47 |
user333_ |
"digitoilet" i read that and started laughing XD |
| 01:47 |
cheapie |
Blockhead256: You'll have to get erle to make that poop mod first for that |
| 01:47 |
user333_ |
oh right |
| 01:47 |
user333_ |
poop armor too |
| 01:48 |
cheapie |
I already installed one of these toilets in another player's mall restroom on VE-C, I set it up with a player detector and a LuaC, programmed to activate the bidet when anyone gets close to it and flush (with overflow) when they walk away |
| 02:03 |
[MatrxMT] |
<Blockhead256> it's available in Spanish too :D |
| 02:05 |
cheapie |
Yes, it only has three strings so I figured I might as well |
| 02:07 |
[MatrxMT] |
<Blockhead256> is (you hacker you) a dead meme? |
| 02:07 |
cheapie |
I use it sometimes (see celevator, digistuff, etc.) but didn't feel like it here |
| 02:09 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> Heh, that git should be flushed down the toliet on mobile |
| 02:14 |
cheapie |
wsor4035: Oops, I had copied that license file from celevator and forgot celevator had that extra line. Attempting to fix it now, at least once ContentDB decides to behave |
| 02:15 |
cheapie |
Right now it's sitting on "Status: pending or unknown", so... maybe it'll work eventually |
| 02:28 |
cheapie |
There, it finally finished. Dunno why it takes that long for it to download 4kB |
| 02:52 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> dont really give a crap if you make a new release or not if source control + auto releases are set up |
| 02:53 |
[MatrxMT] |
<Blockhead256> hehe |
| 02:53 |
cheapie |
...pun intended? |
| 02:53 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> yes and no |
| 02:54 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> i was going to say it anyways, but it also fit right in 😏 |
| 02:55 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> as for why it took so long, not sure, but iirc making new releases is put into the worker queue, so its handled once one is free? could be full of shit tho |
| 02:57 |
cheapie |
I guess now to see if anyone bothers downloading this crap :D |
| 02:58 |
[MatrxMT] |
<Blockhead256> [joke] [machines/electronics] not sure how often those two go together |
| 02:58 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> i mean, its realitively easy to bot cdb download stats |
| 02:58 |
[MatrxMT] |
<Blockhead256> to make number go up? oh yeah, because you can make so much money that way |
| 02:59 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> i hear they make a pill for that  |
| 03:00 |
cheapie |
Blockhead256: If I made a mod for every nonsense thing I did those tags would go together all the time |
| 03:00 |
[MatrxMT] |
<Blockhead256> true, more often it's individual installations though |
| 03:01 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> anyways, even the most stupid mods end up getting around >500 downloads in around a year |
| 03:01 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> 1k seems to be the ceiling for dumb ones that dont get picked up |
| 03:02 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> hint for anyone reading, keep releasing updates, it will keep your score up in ranking, and thus search results which is a self fullfilling thing because then more people will see your mod and consider downloading vs it being near the bottom |
| 03:03 |
[MatrxMT] |
<Blockhead256> fairly sure that's common practice in places like roblox |
| 03:03 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> usually the dumb mods dont really ever do updates, probably leads to the not really breaking 1k |
| 03:03 |
[MatrxMT] |
<Blockhead256> last time I was browsing their game list (never actually launched it, they hate linux), it was all seasonal titles |
| 03:03 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> course this is just all just observation numbers from me, nothing scientific - could be proven wrong |
| 03:04 |
[MatrxMT] |
<Blockhead256> I do expect https://content.luanti.org/packages/Blockhead/baby_sun/ to get a dropoff. Of course, every time I mention it... |
| 03:04 |
cheapie |
I do indeed "game" things a bit with celevator that way |
| 03:04 |
cheapie |
IIRC multiple downloads from the same IP only count if they're at least a week apart, which is why I don't normally release celevator updates closer together than that unless there's some major bug |
| 03:05 |
[MatrxMT] |
<Blockhead256> ah, you're just doing agile right, weekly sprints :P |
| 03:06 |
cheapie |
There's actually a celevator update (fixes some minor bugs and one "not really a bug but kinda confusing" thing, improves the Spanish translation) planned for tomorrow so long as it doesn't blow up on VE-C before then |
| 03:07 |
cheapie |
Which reminds me, I need to make a new promo video for celevator sometime, it's changed in visible ways since the previous one |
| 03:11 |
cheapie |
In other news, there's also some road work going on in Bonnthal, including one work zone with a "LOOSE GRAVEL | PHOTO ENFORCED" sign in it. If you remove the gravel (or replace it with something else) it prints out a ticket with a 1500MG fine |
| 03:13 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> so what happens if i just worldedit it out of existance? 🤔 |
| 03:13 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> do i get a ticket? |
| 03:13 |
cheapie |
It uses a node detector, so unless you WE the machine out too you'll still get a ticket |
| 03:13 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> i assume it uses nearest? |
| 03:14 |
MTDiscord |
<wsor4035> so if i teleport some sole in closer and then nuke it 🤔 |
| 03:14 |
cheapie |
It just uses a digilines printer and spits it out as an item in the general area of the gravel |
| 03:14 |
[MatrxMT] |
<Blockhead256> you need to have people's registered postal addresses and send the the tickets there |
| 03:14 |
cheapie |
Just like the cameras IRL, it doesn't know or care who actually committed the offense |

I'm working on a survival game, what sort of features/options do you all think a good survival game needs? I'm not trying to clone any one game, kinda just combine the best parts of each. |

!tell Sheriff_U3 @ Survival game: How about a new approach? Have multiple companions (NPC) and guide them through a Bloons Tower Defense-like map. Level up their HP and shielding capabilities, perhaps even attack capabilities. Is that survival? |

MinetestBot |
Krock: I'll pass that on when Sheriff_U3 is around |
