<sheriff_u3> Blockhead256: Well it's now got color! Once I get back from my trip I'll refine some points like submitting tools and members and such. I've got lots of ideas for it. |

<Blockhead256> cheapie: oh so you don't use advtrains but you're using the LCD displays? interesting |
| 03:08 |
cheapie |
They're the LCDs from digiterms |

<Blockhead256> oic, gabriel probably took the assets for his mod https://git.bananach.space/departureboards.git/tree/ - unless I'm wrong twice and those are originals |

@wsor4035 : Has this request yet reached the cdb team? https://irc.luanti.org/luanti/2025-12-20#i_6304303 Or would you like some more time? |
| 07:10 |
[MatrxMT] |
<Blockhead256> it's probably been long enough that you can post it and get it approved yeah |
| 07:11 |
[MatrxMT] |
<Blockhead256> ah, you wanted it to be a redirect as well? hmm |
| 07:12 |
Krock |
I can change that page on my own but would like to have this step approved first. |
| 07:14 |
[MatrxMT] |
<Blockhead256> you can edit the source or make releases, but as an editor don't think you can make a redirect like lisacvuk/toolranks -> minetest-mods/toolranks which is probably more correct |
| 07:16 |
Krock |
I do not plan to make a rename but to change the VCS repository URL, such that this mod continues to receive updates. Releasing the mod under a different author/reponame would be possible too, but I'd prefer to avoid confusion |
| 07:16 |
[MatrxMT] |
<Blockhead256> actually that's fair and other historical packages like Wuzzy/mineclone2 do that |
| 07:17 |
[MatrxMT] |
<Blockhead256> have you tried your best to directly reach the author? |
| 07:20 |
Krock |
Actually not. I thought I've sent an email to them but cannot find any. So doing that now. |
| 07:23 |
[MatrxMT] |
<Blockhead256> we usually to leave about a month after making contact, that might have to apply here too |
| 07:27 |
Krock |
Okay let's see |
| 07:28 |
Krock |
Is this policy noted down anywhere, by the way? |
| 07:28 |
[MatrxMT] |
<Blockhead256> not quantified in the rules |
| 07:29 |
[MatrxMT] |
<Blockhead256> just covered by the general "attempt to contribute upstream" |
| 07:29 |
Krock |
(In which case there's been multiple attempts in the past 5 years https://github.com/lisacvuk/minetest-toolranks/pulls ) |
| 07:31 |
[MatrxMT] |
<Blockhead256> I see, so the biggest question is really of granting you, specifically, the package's VCS URL. I think probably you should, but I'll wait for a second opinion from another approver |
| 07:31 |
Krock |
I sent the author an email. Let's see whether they respond within a week or so. |

We can either transfer a package to someone (author redirects are supported) or you can just upload a maintained version |
| 09:13 |
rubenwardy |
It ultimately depends on how long the original author is gone and how trusted the new maintainer is |
| 09:14 |
rubenwardy |
The original author can also add other people as maintainers which is what happened with Wuzzy/mineclone2 |
| 09:14 |
rubenwardy |
We won't add people as maintainers or edit the vcs url |
| 09:14 |
rubenwardy |
But yes this should be written down |
| 09:36 |
rubenwardy |
For example, we would prefer that mods were adopted by organisations like minetest-mods, mt-mods, or mt-historical where multiple people can have access |
