Well, I don't know very much about graphics, and I'm not particularly picky about such things, but I think I'm going to deal with the 1GB of RAM usage. Btw, it did bring down the memory usage to ~350 MB, and it wasn't slower, but I didn't like the way it looked... so flat-looking and cartoon-ish, with not much "texture" or details on the blocks.
